Monica Burton, ACC

Monica Burton partners with mission-driven organizations to identify, recruit, and develop exceptional leaders. For more than two decades, Monica has advised governing boards and executive leaders on identifying transformational leaders. Known for her thoughtful listening, candid counsel, and long-term relationships, Monica helps boards and executive teams navigate their most consequential decision: selecting the right leader. Clients value her sound judgment and ability to recognize leadership potential that others often miss. She believes great leadership is never simply about credentials – it’s about finding the right talent who will advance the mission and strengthen the institution for years to come.

After working in the for-profit sector early in her career, Monica made the intentional decision fifteen years ago to devote her practice exclusively to nonprofit and mission-driven organizations. To deepen her work with clients and candidates, Monica became a certified leadership coach and is certified in the Hogan Assessment, bringing evidence-based leadership assessment to executive search, leadership coaching, and consulting. It is her life’s work to help organizations and leaders be as impactful and as effective as they can be.

Monica holds a BS from Georgetown University and earned her leadership coaching certificate from Georgetown’s Institute for Transformational Leadership. She studied comparative foreign policy at Sciences Po (L’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris). Actively involved in the performing arts in New York City as a supporter and patron, she has served on dance boards and supports individual dance artists in their work.
